JTPFour, the name is derived from the names of my family.
What it stands for as a company is our commitment to making our clients happy
through quality services that everyone involved in the company are proud
of. For 19 years as a consultant, I have
delivered quality services in Learning – whether focused on customizing an off
the shelf product, setting up a hosted environment (before the cloud) for
global companies, or creating content to help people perform at their peak, learning
has always been at the core of the activity.
Our company is focused on the learning industry, but that
can be split into 2 parts – the learning management system (LMS) and the
learning itself (content, instructional design, etc).
We have seen many companies spend millions on implementing a
state of the art LMS only to see the company not realize the return on
investment because no one used the system, it wasn’t setup right, or there was
no real reason for employees to go to the LMS.
Many of us have a daily list of sites we look at to feel like we are up
to speed….how many of us include our companies LMS in that list. I would venture no one except the learning
and development function within your company.
Is that a bad thing? Not
necessarily. We don’t need to force the
LMS into your employees’ daily lives…at least not explicitly. Instead of forcing them to the LMS, the
content should draw them there and the content should always be the star.
Content, classes, learning, eLearning, CBT, WBT, whatever
your company calls it – that should be the driving force behind why your
employees go to an LMS. Consistently
updated, new, relevant content will help your users in their work life and will
help your company’s bottom line by enabling your employees to execute on the
mission. Making the content engaging by
using gamification, simulations, and even assessments keeps your users coming
back for more.
